The government on Thursday reassured diplomats stationed in Dhaka that all necessary measures have been taken to ensure the safety and security of foreign missions ahead of the election.
The briefing, held at the State Guest House Padma, was led by Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam, who outlined the government’s updated election preparations and comprehensive security arrangements.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the session was organised to inform diplomatic missions in Dhaka about the latest measures and to provide assurance regarding their security.
Officials emphasised that law enforcement agencies and the armed forces are on high alert to respond to any situation and maintain law and order throughout the election period. Diplomats were also informed that the Election Commission is prepared to welcome international observers and has invited countries to send monitoring teams to ensure transparency in the 13th National Parliamentary Election.
Around 40 diplomats from various foreign missions in Dhaka attended the briefing, which also included the heads of diplomatic missions and representatives from the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office.
A diplomatic source described the session as concise but comprehensive, noting that the first half focused on election preparations while the latter part addressed the security of diplomatic missions.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the government remains committed to ensuring a safe and orderly environment for both the elections and the diplomatic community.
