Under the ICC Future Tours Programme (FTP), Pakistan were scheduled to play a full series in Bangladesh, including two Tests as part of the World Test Championship, along with three ODIs and three T20Is.
However, the upcoming season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), set to run from 26 March to 3 May, has prompted a revision of the tour schedule. Pakistan will now visit Bangladesh in two phases to complete the series. The development was confirmed on Thursday at a press conference by BCB director and Cricket Operations Chairman Nazmul Abedin Fahim.
While the revised schedule is yet to be announced, the number of matches will remain unchanged in line with the FTP. Bangladesh has also responded positively to Pakistan’s proposal.
Fahim said, “Because of the PSL, the schedule of the Pakistan series has to be adjusted. Bangladesh and Pakistan will play the series in two phases, before and after the tournament.”
Whether the ODI or T20I leg will be played first will depend on the planning of the two teams. Neither board has officially confirmed further details.
Pakistan last toured Bangladesh in July for a three-match T20I series, which the hosts won 2–1.
