The Government of Bangladesh is making all possible efforts to ensure the safe return of the national football team from Nepal, following a temporary delay caused by ongoing unrest in the country.
The team had been scheduled to fly back to Dhaka at 3 PM local time from Tribhuvan International Airport. However, all outgoing flights were cancelled by airport authorities due to the deteriorating situation on the ground. As a result, the players and officials remain at their team hotel in Kathmandu.
In response, the Youth and Sports Adviser, Mr Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, is closely monitoring the situation. Senior officials from both the Office of the Chief Adviser and the Ministry of Youth and Sports are working to secure the team’s safe and swift return. Regular contact is being maintained with the Bangladesh Embassy in Nepal to coordinate these efforts.
Amidst the recent political developments in Nepal, particularly the resignation of the Prime Minister, the Government of Bangladesh is maintaining close coordination with the Nepalese Army to ensure the team’s security.
Mr Bhuiyan has personally spoken with team captain Jamal Bhuiyan and manager Amer Khan to check on the team’s condition. He has assured them that every necessary arrangement is being made to bring them home safely and without delay.
