In a post on his official Facebook page, Adviser for Sports and Local Government Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan said the situation in Gopalganj was being monitored by the Police Control Room following violent clashes at an NCP rally in Gopalganj.
“The Police Control Room is monitoring the situation,” the local government adviser added, “with directives from the home adviser, youth and sports adviser, and senior law enforcement officials.”
The adviser also confirmed that a curfew has been imposed in Gopalganj and urged all residents to remain indoors unless there was a life-threatening emergency.
He added that security forces have been reinforced and vowed to “crush banned terrorist organisations”.
