Gold prices in Bangladesh have reached a new record, with the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) raising the price of 22-carat gold by Tk7,348 per bhori.
In a notification issued on Wednesday, BAJUS said the price of one bhori of 22-carat gold has been fixed at Tk2.69 lakh, the highest ever in the country. The new rate came into effect from 10:15 am on Wednesday.
BAJUS said the latest increase followed a rise in the price of refined gold in the local market. It reviewed the overall situation before finalising the new rates.
According to the revised prices, 21-carat gold now costs Tk2.57 lakh per bhori, while 18-carat gold has been set at Tk2.20 lakh. Traditional gold price is Tk1.81 lakh per bhori.
The association said buyers must add 5 percent value-added tax fixed by the government and a minimum 6 percent making charge set by BAJUS to the selling price. Making charges may vary depending on jewellery design and quality.
BAJUS last adjusted gold prices on 26 January, when it increased the price of 22-carat gold by Tk5,249 per bhori to Tk2.62 lakh, which had stood as the previous highest rate. That price became effective on 27 January.
At the time, the price of 21-carat gold was Tk2.50 lakh per bhori, 18-carat gold Tk2.14 lakh, and traditional-method gold Tk1.76 lakh.
With the latest revision, gold prices have been adjusted 15 times so far this year. Prices increased on 12 occasions and declined three times. In 2025, BAJUS revised gold prices 93 times, raising rates 64 times and cutting them 29 times.
Despite the rise in gold prices, silver rates remain unchanged in the domestic market. A bhori of 22-carat silver continues to sell at Tk7 thousand 757, the highest silver price on record.
The price of 21-carat silver stands at Tk7 thousand 407 per bhori, 18-carat silver at Tk6 thousand 357, and traditional-method silver at Tk4 thousand 782.
So far this year, silver prices have been adjusted 11 times, with eight increases and three reductions. In 2025, silver prices were revised 13 times, rising on 10 occasions and falling three times.
