German envoy praises Bangladesh police’s role in national election

The German Embassy’s Deputy Head of Mission Anja Kersten has highly praised the performance of Bangladesh Police in maintaining law and order during the 13th National Parliament election, as she paid a courtesy call on Inspector General of Police Md Ali Hossain Fakir on Monday.

The meeting took place at Police Headquarters in Dhaka, where Kersten congratulated the newly appointed IGP.

She expressed Germany’s interest in providing training and technical assistance to Bangladesh Police in several key areas, including crowd control, cyber security, forensics, security of foreign diplomats, verification of fake documents, and capacity building of the Central Police Hospital.

The German envoy also conveyed her embassy’s greetings to the IGP.

Welcoming Germany’s interest, the IGP sought Berlin’s cooperation in creating skilled manpower to prevent cybercrime and enhancing the capacity of Bangladesh Police to combat international terrorism.

Senior police officials were present during the meeting.
