The Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity stated the current fuel rationing system for transport will increase Eid travel suffering and fare anarchy.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the association’s Secretary General Md Mozammel Hoque Chowdhury, highlighted that approximately 15 million people will depart from Dhaka and surrounding districts for their village homes this Eid.
Additionally, between 30 to 40 million people are expected to travel from one district to another across the country.
The association’s observations predict a massive volume of trips across various modes of transport, including 25 million trips by ride-sharing motorcycles and 8 million trips by human haulers.
Other projected travel figures include 4 million trips each by launches and Dhaka city buses, 3 million trips each by long-distance buses and CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 60,000 trips by cars and microbuses.
To prevent these issues, the association has demanded an uninterrupted supply of fuel for vehicles until the day of Eid.
