foodpanda has recently announced fully funded 24/7 personal accident insurance coverage for all its active delivery riders, protecting them against major injuries from accidents regardless of whether they occur during an order or on personal time.

The initiative was announced following the signing of a partnership agreement between foodpanda and Bimafy, a digital insurance platform, at foodpanda’s headquarters in Dhaka, said a press release on Tuesday.

Under the policy, riders will receive Tk100,000 in the event of accidental death, permanent total disability, or complete loss of sight in both eyes or multiple limbs. The policy also provides Tk50,000 for certain permanent partial disabilities, including loss of sight in one eye or loss of a single hand or foot.

Riders who complete at least one delivery in a week are eligible for the coverage.

foodpanda Head of Logistics Mukitur Rahman Khan said the safety and well-being of delivery partners remain a top priority. “By fully funding personal accident insurance, we hope that our delivery partners can have greater peace of mind, and be assured of 24/7 protection anytime that they are on the road,” he said.

The insurance programme is part of pandahearts, foodpanda’s rider support programme focusing on safety, well-being, personal development, community and welfare benefits.
The company also offers discounted healthcare packages, mobile data plans, monthly instalment plans for e-bikes, upskilling opportunities and rider sports tournaments.
