The Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee has issued a five-point directive to the heads of all lower secondary, secondary, and higher secondary educational institutions across the country.
The instructions, released in a notification on Monday, come ahead of the Prime Minister’s Gold Cup Football Tournament-2026.
According to the notification, signed by Syed Akteruzzaman, chairman of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to inaugurate the tournament on 9 August at Chittagong Stadium.
The tournament will commence simultaneously across the country at the same date and time.
The committee has opened participation to students from all educational levels, including those under the Madrasa and Technical Education Boards.
Institution heads have been urged to urgently form one boys’ football team and one girls’ football team to represent their respective schools and colleges.
The specific directives issued to the heads of institutions are as follows:
- Football teams for both boys and girls must be formed based on student merit.
- Institutions must arrange regular practice sessions for the formed teams under the supervision of experienced teachers or coaches.
- Inter-class football competitions are to be organised to increase interest in sports among students and to facilitate the selection of skilled players.
- Necessary initiatives must be taken to foster discipline, leadership, team spirit, and a healthy lifestyle through sporting activities.
- Institutions are required to complete all necessary preparations by strictly following subsequent instructions regarding the tournament.
The Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee emphasised that taking these steps to prepare the teams is essential for the successful execution of the national event.
