Five remitters of National Bank Exchange House have been honoured with the “2nd Bangladesh Remitters Recognition 2026” award in Singapore for their significant contribution to the country’s economy through legal remittance channels.
Md Rezaul Karim, Nazmul Arefin and Md Omar Faruk Sabuj received awards in the “By Volume” category for sending the highest amount of remittances through National Bank Exchange House. Mohammad Babul and Mohammad Jamiul Islam received awards in the “By Frequency” category for sending remittances most frequently.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid Islam presented the awards on Monday, said a press release on Tuesday.
National Bank Chairman Melita Mehjabeen said expatriate Bangladeshis, even those sending just a single dollar home, were playing an important role in the country’s economy.
“Remittances carry multifaceted positive impacts- the money may be funding a child’s education or covering a family’s medical expenses, sometimes giving someone a new lease on life,” she said.
Thakral Group Managing Director Gurmukh Singh Thakral, Agrani Bank Chairman Syed Abu Naser Bukhtear Ahmed, One Bank Chairman ASM Shahidullah Khan, Prime Bank CEO Faisal Rahman and Bangladesh Business Chamber Singapore President Mohd Shahiduzzaman also attended the event.
Representatives of various exchange houses, Singapore government officials, Bangladesh High Commission officials and expatriate Bangladeshis attended the event, with total attendance exceeding 150 guests, the press release added.
