A major fire broke out late Friday night at Marina Pinnacle, a 67-storey residential and commercial high-rise in Dubai Marina, prompting the evacuation of all 3,820 residents. Authorities confirmed there were no injuries or casualties in the incident.
The fire reportedly started shortly after 9:30 pm from an upper floor of the tower. “I woke up from my sleep after smelling pungent smoke coming into my room,” said a resident who lives on the 49th floor. “We hurriedly went down the building in our pajamas, ” reports agencies.
Eyewitnesses reported thick smoke billowing from the upper levels—possibly from the 60th floor or higher. Videos captured by residents and journalists showed the fire spreading to multiple floors over the next hour. Several fire trucks and ambulances rushed to the scene and worked continuously to bring the situation under control.
At 1:44 am, the Dubai Media Office (DMO) confirmed on social media that all residents had been safely evacuated. “Specialised teams successfully evacuated all residents from the 67-storey building, prioritising their health and safety throughout the operation,” it said.
By 2:21 am, DMO confirmed that all 3,820 residents from 764 apartments were safely evacuated with no reported injuries. Medical and ambulance teams remained on-site to provide physical and emotional support to affected residents.
Many evacuees were seen waiting on the street, some clutching pets, under the hot and humid night air. One resident said she had to seek refuge near the nearby Marina Towers Tram Station, though smoke from the blaze remained evident in the area.
This is not the first time Marina Pinnacle has been affected by fire. On May 25, 2015, a kitchen fire on the 47th floor spread to the floor above before being contained. The tower is located near The Torch, another high-rise that experienced major fires in 2015 and 2017.
Coincidentally, earlier on Friday, a separate car fire occurred at the Sulafa Tower parking area, just steps away from Marina Pinnacle, though it was quickly managed and unrelated to the later high-rise blaze.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the fire as damage assessments begin. Dubai Civil Defence and emergency response teams have been praised for their swift and efficient handling of the incident, preventing any loss of life in what could have been a tragic disaster.
