An Indian Tejas fighter jet crashed during a flying demonstration on the final day of the Dubai Airshow on Friday, triggering panic among spectators.
Gulf News reported that the jet suddenly lost altitude and fell in flames close to the display area. A column of black smoke rose from the crash site. Witnesses said the aircraft had completed a low roll just before impact.
Rescue teams reached the site within minutes. Organisers stopped the afternoon show and moved visitors back into the exhibition halls as a precaution.
Officials have not yet shared any update on the pilot’s condition.
The HAL Tejas light combat aircraft, part of India’s push for a home-grown fighter fleet under the “Make in India” initiative, has a single engine and a multirole design suitable for both air defence and ground-attack missions.
This year’s Dubai Airshow, held from 17–24 November, hosted more than 1,500 exhibitors and displayed over 200 aircraft. The crash overshadowed the event’s final day.
