A powerful earthquake jolted Dhaka and several parts of the country at 10:38 am on Friday (November 21), sending waves of panic across Bangladesh, a shock that quickly found its way into the country’s celebrity circles as well.
Soon after the tremor, several celebrities took to social media and shared their shocking experiences about the earthquake.
Coke Studio Bangla curator-producer and popular singer-composer Shayan Chowdhury Arnob took to Facebook with a striking image of a damaged house: cracked walls, fallen plaster and the unsettling silence of destruction. He added no caption, and the photograph alone conveyed the fear he felt.
Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki wrote on his Facebook, “Never experienced such an earthquake before! Could have been the very last day. A reminder of how fragile everything is!”

Actress Sadia Ayman, shaken by the experience, posted a dua on Facebook: “Alhamdulillahil-lazi nazzani minal-bala,” praising the Almighty for protection from harm.

Actor Chanchal Chowdhury shared his alarm as well, writing, “What a terrifying experience! Stay safe, stay well, may the Creator protect everyone.”

Actress Mehazabien Chowdhury wrote simply, “Earthquake! Hope everyone is safe.”

Dhallywood star Pori Moni reflected on the suddenness of life, posting, “Life keeps running even when we know how uncertain it is.”
Actress Samira Khan Mahi uploaded CCTV footage showing her cats darting around moments before the tremor hit. “Seems like my cats sensed it beforehand,” she captioned the video.
Meanwhile, actress Rukaiya Jahan Chamak voiced frustration over preparedness during emergencies, posting: “A piece of clothing (Orna) is treated as more important than a woman’s life.” She ended the post with the hashtag #earthquakefact.
As the aftershocks of fear continue to settle, the stars’ reactions mirror the emotions of millions, a reminder that in moments of crisis, fame and ordinary life stand on the same trembling ground.
