A four-member delegation from the US Embassy met with the newly appointed Head of the Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) Additional Inspector General of Police Md Rezaul Karim on Monday to discuss ongoing and future cooperation in combating terrorism.
The delegation was led by Case Ferrell, Assistant Legal Attaché, FBI, Colombo, Sri Lanka. Other members included Susan Finby, FBI Staff-Administrative Specialist, Robert J Cameron, FBI Assistant Legal Attaché in Dhaka, and Mohammad Aminul Islam, Police Liaison Officer, US Embassy, Dhaka.
Senior officials of various ranks of the ATU were also present in the meeting.
Barrister Mahfuzul Alam Rasel, superintendent of police of the ATU (Media and Awareness Wing), in a press statement on Monday said that the delegation discussed in detail the various incidents that have taken place in the recent international arena and was informed about the current activities of the ATU. The delegation expressed satisfaction with the unit’s ongoing efforts.
Both sides expressed their interest in working together to combat terrorism and extremism in the future, including mutual cooperation.
