Vin Diesel is promising an emotional farewell for Fast & Furious fans as the franchise prepares to return with its final instalment, Fast Forever, writes Deadline.
The actor, who has played Dominic Toretto since the original The Fast and the Furious released in 2001, shared an update on the upcoming 11th film on Saturday. Fast Forever is scheduled to hit theatres on 17 March 2028.
Diesel also encouraged fans to revisit the first film when it returns to cinemas on 21 August for its 25th anniversary celebration.
“You have no idea… When March 17th 2028 comes… you will thank God you got to see the first one in the theatres this summer,” Diesel wrote on Instagram while sharing a trailer for the original film.
The actor revealed that he had recently read the script by Mike Leslie and praised it as the best screenplay he had read in decades.
“I am still crying,” Diesel wrote while describing his reaction to the script.
Diesel previously assured fans that he wants the final chapter to deliver a satisfying conclusion to the billion-dollar action franchise.
Last month, he said the team had spent more than three years working towards creating what he called the “most amazing finale”.
Although the main film series will end with Fast Forever, Diesel has previously revealed that NBCUniversal is developing four television projects set within the Fast & Furious universe.
The franchise, which began with street racing and family themes, has grown into one of Hollywood’s biggest action properties, earning billions at the global box office over more than two decades.
