Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Vice-president Faruque Ahmed has urged holding smaller scale meetings of sports federations following a meeting with State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque on Monday at the National Sports Council (NSC).

Overall, 52 federations took part in the meeting with the state minister in the press conference room of NSC. Faruque stressed that for better outcomes, such meetings should be conducted in smaller groups, such as five federations at a time.

“I suggested that instead of holding such large meetings, it would be more effective if smaller sessions were arranged with five federations at a time, as that would allow for more detailed discussion, which would benefit everyone,” Faruque told reporters after the meeting.

Regarding whether the BCB will hold separate meetings with Minister Aminul Haque to discuss implementation plans, Faruque said such meetings are possible, but coordination of action plans would be more convenient.

“Yes, we can meet individually. But what we have suggested is that if our action plans are aligned, it will be more convenient for us. Today’s meeting lasted about three hours, and I said that if all federations had raised their points, it might have continued for another four hours,” Faruque said.

Faruque also earlier praised Aminul Haque, the former national football team captain. He said, “He is a sportsman, and he started the meeting in a very impressive way. He shared his vision with us.”

Focusing on the importance of sports infrastructure, Faruque added, “We need more playing fields, and he has assured that he will help in developing them, along with integrating sports activities. Sports will be included in the curriculum, and there are sports teachers available for that.”
