BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir left Dhaka for Singapore on Tuesday, accompanied by his wife Rahat Ara Begum, for advanced medical treatment.
The couple boarded a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight at around 8:10am, according to UNB reports.
Rahat Ara Begum has a pre-arranged appointment with her doctor at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore. Details regarding the duration of their stay abroad were not disclosed. Fakhrul is expected to return to homeland once his wife’s medical arrangements are complete.
Over the past few months, Rahat Ara Begum has been battling multiple health issues, including cancer.
