Fakhrul declares Tk4.06cr assets, Tk11.83 lakh income

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has declared total assets worth Tk4,06,54,715.73, including both movable and immovable properties.

He has been nominated by the BNP to contest from the Thakurgaon-1 constituency in the upcoming 13th national election.

According to the affidavit submitted to the Thakurgaon district election office, his annual income stands at Tk11,83,133. The affidavit, however, does not mention the market value of one private car and 30 bhori of gold.

The affidavit shows that Fakhrul owns five acres of agricultural land, acquired at a value of Tk60,000.

It also stated that 50 cases had been filed against him at different times. Most of these cases have been resolved through court-ordered stays, withdrawals or acceptance of final reports.

The affidavit declares that none of the cases currently pose any legal barrier to his eligibility as a member of parliament.

His wife owns 70 decimals and 2.14 acres of land, valued at Tk51.48 lakh. He also inherited a share of a two-storey ancestral house, valued at Tk10 lakh.

In Thakurgaon, the couple jointly owns 12 decimals of non-agricultural land, valued at Tk39.72 lakh. In Purbachal, Dhaka, Fakhrul owns five kathas of land, with an estimated value of Tk85.04 lakh.

Under building and residential assets, the affidavit lists a 1,950-square-foot flat in Dhaka, valued at Tk20.50 lakh, along with four decimals of land worth Tk5 lakh.

Mirza Fakhrul maintains several bank accounts across the country. These include Tk5,002 at Uttara Bank Limited’s Thakurgaon branch, Tk1,09,804.50 at Pubali Bank’s Thakurgaon branch and Tk2,67,347.47 at Agrani Bank Limited’s Dhaka branch.

He and his wife jointly hold deposits of Tk2,24,132 at Pubali Bank’s Gulshan Corporate Branch. In addition, he has Tk9,46,467 at Exim Bank’s Gulshan branch and Tk3,485 in a City Bank agent banking account. The total amount in bank deposits stands at Tk11,83,133.

The affidavit states that he holds Tk1,25,58,116.77 in cash, while his wife has Tk1,65,930 in cash.

In terms of investment and savings, Fakhrul owns 1,428 shares of The Mirzas Private Limited, valued at Tk1,42,800. His wife holds Tk45,11,750 in savings certificates and fixed deposits.

The movable assets list includes two private vehicles, 10 bhori of gold, electronic appliances such as television, refrigerator and computer valued at Tk2.50 lakh, and furniture worth Tk2.40 lakh.

His annual income sources include Tk1,00,800 from agriculture, Tk1,97,232 from business income through shares in Hurmat Ali Market, Tk6 lakh as consultancy fees from Ejab Group, Tk1,98,000 as remuneration from The Mirzas Private Limited, and Tk7,901 from other sources and bank interest.

The total annual income amounts to Tk11,83,133, as stated in the affidavit.
