Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das is set to play a new role in the middle order for the upcoming ODI series against Pakistan, with Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Cricket Operations Committee chairman Nazmul Abedeen Fahim expressing confidence in the experienced player’s form.
The three-match ODI series will take place in Bangladesh from 11 March to 15 March 2026. Despite a challenging period in ODI cricket over the past year, Litton has been included in the squad, sparking optimism among the selectors and fans alike.
Fahim highlighted Litton’s experience and value to the team, stressing the potential impact of the wicketkeeper-batter in a new batting position.
“We value his experience highly and hope he delivers strong performances. Our expectations are high,” Fahim said.
He added that if Litton settles in the middle-order batting position, it could significantly strengthen Bangladesh’s line-up:
“If he performs well in the middle order, our batting will be much more solid. We need an experienced player like him in that role. That is the thinking behind his selection — we look forward to seeing how he performs,” Fahim explained.
All three ODIs will be hosted at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, which has recently seen changes in pitch conditions. Previously known for slow and low wickets, the surfaces are now more sporting and balanced, offering a fair contest for both sides.
“Scoring runs should not be too difficult. While the matches will be competitive, we may have a slight advantage as we are familiar with these wickets, unlike Pakistan. The old level of advantage is no longer as pronounced, but it remains helpful,” Fahim said.
