Since his international debut, Taskin Ahmed has impressed with sheer pace. Over time, he has added control and variety to his bowling. Following a similar path, right-arm pacer Nahid Rana has joined the national team, capable of consistently bowling at 140–142 km/h. While express pace can leak runs in T20 cricket, Nahid believes such pacers are “game-changers.”
Rangpur Riders began their BPL 12 training on Sunday at Bashundhara Sports City. Speaking after the first session, Nahid said he will not compromise on pace despite small boundaries and tricky pitches.
Asked if he plans to try anything new in the tournament starting December 26 in Sylhet, Nahid said, “Those who bowl at extra pace are game-changers. Sometimes they win an unexpected match. Other times, they may give away a lot of runs. I don’t focus on whether a boundary is small or big. I just try to bowl according to the basics.”
Though known for express pace, Nahid has been practicing yorkers and slower balls. On adding new skills to his arsenal, he said, “I have been working on perfecting yorkers and slower deliveries. In T20 cricket, it takes time to master these, so I have focused on them patiently.”
