Registration for expatriate voters has resumed in seven countries through the “Postal Vote BD” mobile app, enabling them to cast ballots by postal ballot in the 13th national parliamentary election and the referendum.
Md Ruhul Amin Mallik, Director (Public Relations) and Information Officer of the Election Commission Secretariat, told the media on Sunday that the registration process has reopened from 3:15pm for voters living in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait and Malaysia.
He said expatriates must provide accurate addresses in their respective countries to receive postal ballots. If needed, they have been requested to use the address of a friend or relative, or that of a nearby well-known organisation or building.
Earlier on Thursday, EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed and Brigadier General (Retd) Salim Ahmad Khan, team leader of the OCV and SDI project, said expatriate voters in the seven countries were facing difficulties in inputting their addresses correctly.
