Detectives arrested former joint secretary Syed Jaglul Pasha at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital.
The arrest took place around 8:50pm on Tuesday, Detective Branch Chief Shafiqul Islam said Wednesday.
He explained that, acting on a tip‑off that Pasha was returning to Dhaka from Cox’s Bazar by air, DB officials maintained surveillance in the airport area and detained him.
Jaglul Pasha prepared documents and gave testimony in the Zia Orphanage Trust case against former prime minister Khaleda Zia. Allegations suggest the documents he prepared were forged and his testimony was false.
In addition to these allegations, the former official faces several other criminal charges. He is an FIR‑named accused in a case filed under the Special Powers Act at Gulshan Police Station and in the Parvez murder case at Jatrabari Police Station, which was filed during the anti‑discrimination student movement.
He is also accused in a case related to “Operation Eagle Hunt” at Shibganj Police Station in Chapainawabganj and in the murder case of BNP leader Altab Hossain at Daulatpur Police Station in Kushtia.
DB sources said Jaglul Pasha was involved in the 2013 incident when sand‑laden trucks were placed in front of the BNP office in Banani to obstruct its activities.
