Roads and institutions in every upazila across Bangladesh will be named after the July martyrs in recognition of their sacrifices, State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Choudhury said on Wednesday.
“Their sacrifices made it possible for the current democratic government to be elected through a free and fair election. BNP will stand by the July martyrs and their families,” he said.
Yasser made the remarks while inaugurating a free medical camp organised in memory of the July martyrs at Duldul Camp in the Patgudam area of Mymensingh town.
He said the families of the July martyrs and those injured during the movement would be provided with various facilities under different government plans, which would be implemented under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
The state minister said people of Bangladesh had achieved a democratic government free from “fascism” after a long struggle led by Tarique Rahman.
“In 2024, we achieved that success through the student-mass uprising,” he said.
Yasser prayed for eternal peace for the departed souls of the martyrs and wished a speedy recovery for those injured, saying, “We are always with them and will remain by their side forever.”
Administrator of Mymensingh City Corporation Rukunuzzaman Rokon, Joint Convener of Mymensingh Metropolitan BNP Professor Sheikh Amjad Ali, former president of Mymensingh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal Naimul Karim Luin and its current General Secretary Al Rafsan Samir, among others, were present at the programme.
More than 300 people from underprivileged and impoverished families received free medical consultations and medicines at the camp.
