A coalition of European foreign ministers and the European Union’s senior diplomat have expressed their backing for Lebanon, calling on Israel to avoid further escalation, including any ground operation.
Israeli forces have already entered Lebanese territory, according to Al Jazeera.
In a joint declaration, the group of ten countries, which includes Britain, France, and Germany, placed responsibility for the crisis on Hezbollah while voicing concern over the more than one million individuals displaced due to the hostilities.
The ministers also denounced recent strikes on UNIFIL peacekeepers, describing the resulting injuries and deaths as “unacceptable.”
