A six-member European Union (EU) delegation has visited the Rohingya camp in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, to review ongoing humanitarian efforts for refugees.
The delegation arrived at the camp at 9:30am on Tuesday and conducted a detailed review of child protection, education, and community support programmes for refugees.
The visiting members included David Zappa, head of the EU DG ECHO Office in Dhaka; Segolene de Becque, Head of Regional Office in Bangkok; Boothalna Twani, Protection and Education Expert; Mike Ahern, head of EU DG ECHO Cox’s Bazar Office; Assistant Officers Saima Sharmin and Russell Mehdi Parvez.
During their visit, the delegation observed the activities of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and UNICEF, met with case workers and beneficiaries, and held discussions with the Community Protection Committee.
In addition, the delegation visited the Learning Center located in Block C-1 of the 9th Rohingya camp, where they exchanged views with parents, religious leaders, and community members. They were briefed on the educational activities and community engagement projects.
After the visit, the delegation left the Rohingya camp in the afternoon and headed towards Cox’s Bazar.
