Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md Sazzat Ali has directed police to ensure the highest level of security at all polling centres across Dhaka ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election.
The instruction was issued during a coordination meeting held at the DMP headquarters conference room on Monday.
The meeting reviewed the security plan and overall management strategy prepared by the DMP for the upcoming election.
Addressing senior officials, the commissioner stressed that strict vigilance is required to prevent any disorder at polling centres. He urged police to maintain special surveillance over centres located far from police stations and to intensify patrols within police station areas.
Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SN Md Nazrul Islam said this election is taking place in a different context, requiring officers to carry out their duties with heightened awareness.
He said additional forces will be deployed for the election and maintaining law and order should be the top priority.
Joint Police Commissioner (Operations) Mohammad Shahidullah presented the overall security plan through a PowerPoint presentation.
Senior DMP officials offered suggestions, and the commissioner issued several directives.
The meeting was attended by senior officials including Additional Police Commissioner (Admin) Md Sarwar, BPM-Service; Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SN Md Nazrul Islam, PPM-Service; Additional Police Commissioner (Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime) Md Masud Karim; Additional Police Commissioner (DB) Md Shafiqul Islam; Additional Police Commissioner (Logistics, Finance and Procurement) Hasan Md Shawkat Ali; Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) Md Anisur Rahman; joint police commissioners, deputy commissioners, assistant commissioners, all police station OCs of DMP and other officers of various ranks.
