Brazil completed their World Cup preparations with a 2-1 victory over Egypt in an international friendly at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland, Ohio. The match was the final warm-up for both teams before the 2026 FIFA World Cup begins next week in North America.
Brazil made a strong start and took the lead in the ninth minute through Bruno Guimaraes. However, the advantage lasted only two minutes as Egypt’s Ziko scored in the 11th minute to make it 1-1.
Neither team could find another goal before the break and the first half ended level.
Much of the attention around Brazil in recent weeks has been on Neymar’s fitness. The forward is recovering from a calf injury suffered in late May. Despite that concern, coach Carlo Ancelotti has continued to focus on building team chemistry and improving Brazil’s overall play ahead of the World Cup.
Brazil found the winning goal in the 54th minute when Endrick put them back in front. The young striker then ran to celebrate with Ancelotti on the touchline and embraced his coach.
The goal sealed a 2-1 win for Brazil. It was also Endrick’s second goal contribution in his last three matches.
Egypt also entered the match in good form after beating Russia in a friendly last week. They will now turn their attention to the World Cup, where they begin their campaign against Belgium on June 15.
The African side are in Group G alongside Belgium, Iran and New Zealand. Egypt hope to carry their recent form into the tournament and make a strong start against the group’s highest-ranked team.
