Sylhet Titans produced a dominant batting display in the opening match of the BPL 2026, posting 190 for 5 in 20 overs after Rajshahi Warriors chose to field first in Sylhet.
The innings began with intent. Saim Ayub looked in complete control early on, playing a range of stylish shots through the off side and over the infield. He scored 28 from 15 balls, striking three fours and two sixes, before perishing while trying to maintain the tempo.
Rony Talukdar stayed at the crease but struggled to keep the scoreboard moving at times. He found boundaries but could not build consistent momentum and eventually departed for 41 off 34 balls, falling short of a half-century.
Hazratullah Zazai added quick runs with a 20 off 18 balls, helping Sylhet stay on track through the middle phase.
The innings truly came alive with Parvez Hossain Emon, who batted in the middle order despite being a regular opener. He took charge with fearless stroke play, launching the ball cleanly into the stands. Emon hammered 65 not out from 33 balls, including five sixes and four fours. He brought up his fifty with a lofted drive over cover for six, a moment that reflected his growing authority in T20 cricket.
Afif Hossain matched Emon’s energy at the other end. He played elegant lofted cover drives for six and surprised the field with reverse scoops for four. Afif scored 33 from 19 balls before being run out late in the innings.
Ethan Brookes was dismissed for a duck in the final over, but Sylhet had already done enough to excite the home crowd, who were dancing in joy as the total crossed 190.
For Rajshahi Warriors, Sandeep Lamichhane finished with 2 for 38, while Binura Fernando and Tanzim Hasan Sakib claimed one wicket each.
