Emily Osment has addressed why she did not take part in the ‘Hannah Montana’ 20th anniversary special, which premiered on Disney+ on March 24.
The actress, who played Lilly Truscott in the hit series, revealed she was unable to attend due to filming commitments for her current project ‘George & Mandy’s First Marriage’.
In a video shared on social media, Osment said there was no ill feeling and expressed her gratitude to fans who have continued to support the show over the years.
She described Hannah Montana as a life-changing experience, crediting it with shaping her understanding of comedy and the discipline required to work in the industry from a young age. Osment also thanked viewers for their continued affection, calling the series a once-in-a-generation phenomenon.
Meanwhile, Miley Cyrus shared that the anniversary special itself only came into being after she began promoting the idea publicly. Inspired by advice from Dolly Parton, she said she pushed for the project before it formally existed.
Disney executive Charlie Andrews confirmed that the special was driven by Cyrus’ vision, with a strong focus on celebrating fans.
