The Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2026 will commence on 20 February and continue until March 15.
The decision was taken at an emergency meeting held on Wednesday afternoon at the Shaheed Munier Chowdhury Auditorium of the Bangla Academy, according to a press release.
The country’s largest annual literary event will be formally inaugurated at 11am on 20 February.
The meeting was attended by Cultural Secretary Md Mofidur Rahman, Bangla Academy Director General Prof Mohammad Azam, Dhaka University Proctor Prof Saifuddin Ahmed, directors of the Bangla Academy, representatives of publishing houses, and members of law enforcement agencies.
Participants at the meeting unanimously agreed on the revised schedule and confirmed the inauguration time.
Earlier, on 18 September, authorities had announced that the 2026 edition of the fair would be held from 17 December, 2025 to January 17, 2026. However, following objections from publishers and writers, that decision was withdrawn on 28 September.
