The flow of people returning to their workplaces after the Eid holidays continued through the Paturia launch terminal on Tuesday, with large numbers of passengers travelling towards Dhaka and other destinations.
Since morning, the terminal has witnessed a heavy influx of workers and holidaymakers from the country’s south-western districts heading back after celebrating Eid with their families.
Hundreds of passengers crossed the river from Daulatdia launch terminal in Rajbari to Paturia using the shuttle launch service. After arriving at Paturia, they boarded local buses and other vehicles to continue their journeys to Dhaka and nearby areas.
Passengers expressed satisfaction with the smooth launch operations and the absence of major traffic congestion on the roads. However, many complained that some transport operators were charging fares higher than usual.
“I did not face any difficulty crossing the river or travelling on the highway, but some vehicles charged extra fares,” said Monir, a passenger waiting for transport at the terminal.
Launch Supervisor Panna Lal said 20 launches are currently operating on the Paturia–Daulatdia route to ensure uninterrupted passenger movement during the post-Eid travel rush.
