The prices of gold and silver have been reduced in the domestic market. The rate of 22‑carat gold has been cut by Tk3,266 per bhori (11.664 grams), setting the new price at Tk234,855.

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has made the decision at a meeting of its Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring.

The decision was announced in a notice signed by committee chairman Dewan Aminul Islam Shahin.

The new rates took effect from 10am Tuesday, the notice said.

Under the revised prices, 22‑carat gold has been fixed at Tk234,855 per bhori, while 21‑carat gold is Tk224,182 per bhori, 18‑carat gold costs Tk192,164 per bhori, and traditional gold has been set at Tk156,473 per bhori.

Silver prices were also adjusted. The price of 22‑carat silver is Tk5,657 per bhori, 21‑carat silver is Tk5,365 per bhori, 18‑carat silver is Tk4,607 per bhori, and traditional silver has been set at Tk3,441 per bhori.

Earlier, on 25 May, Bajus raised the price of 22‑carat gold by Tk2,158 to Tk238,121, alongside adjustments in silver rates.
