Piyar Ali had been waiting at Khoksa bus stand, counting the minutes until his grandson Nabil arrived for Eid‑ul‑Adha. Instead of a reunion, he was met with devastating news.

He recounted in tears at the hospital, fainting repeatedly upon seeing his grandson’s body. “I called him at 8:30am and he said he (Nabil) had started. At 9:30am, he told me he needed only 15 more minutes,” Piyar said.

Nabil, a final‑year Economics student at Faridpur Government Rajendra College, was among four people killed Saturday morning when a dump truck rammed a bus in Khoksa upazila. The collision around 11:30am in Kutipara area of Shimulia Union sent the bus plunging into a roadside pond.

Nabil was the son of Junaid, a small trader from Munshibazar in Faridpur Sadar. His mother had struggled to fund his education, dreaming he would graduate, secure a good job, and support the family. Those hopes were shattered by reckless driving.

The bus, carrying about 50 passengers from Rajbari to Kushtia, was struck by a dump truck from Kumarkhali’s Zillapitola area. Locals and Fire Service personnel rescued passengers, but Nabil and an unidentified man aged about 60 were declared dead at Khoksa Upazila Health Complex.
