The Election Commission (EC) will hold separate dialogue sessions with political parties on 19 November as part of its ongoing preparations for the 13th National Parliamentary Election.
The meetings will take place at the EC’s conference hall in Agargaon, Dhaka, with Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami scheduled for the morning session and BNP in the afternoon.
On the same day, the EC has also invited two newly registered parties, the National Citizen Party (NCP) and the Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (Marxist), to participate in the discussions.
EC Assistant Director of Public Relations Md Ashadul Haque confirmed the schedule on Monday.
According to the EC’s Public Relations Division, the morning session will include Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Bangladesh Minority Janata Party (BMJP), Insaniyat Biplob, NCP, Ganosamhati Andolon, and the Nationalist Democratic Movement (NDM).
The afternoon session, beginning at 2pm, will feature the BNP, Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP), Gono Odhikar Parishad, Nagorik Oikko, Bangladesh Republican Party (BRP), and Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (Marxist).
Ahead of the election, the EC has invited a total of 48 parties to dialogue over four days, including Thursday, Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday. With the inclusion of the two new parties, Bangladesh now has 55 registered political parties.
The registration of the Awami League is currently suspended, while three other parties have had their registrations canceled.
