The Election Commission (EC) has instructed the government to provide security to Shafiqur Rahman, Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, along with six senior party leaders.
The directive was confirmed on Tuesday by EC Deputy Secretary Mohammad Monir Hossain, who said a formal letter has been sent to the Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The leaders listed for protection include Shafiqur Rahman, Nayeb-e-Ameer Syed Abdullah Md Taher, ATM Azharul Islam, Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar, Nayer-e-Ameer Mujibur Rahman, Assistant Secretary General Hamidur Rahman Azad, and Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan.
The EC’s directive follows their formal requests for security and instructs the authorities to take all necessary measures to ensure their safety.
