Dhallywood actor Eamin Haque Bobby has secured bail after surrendering before a Dhaka court in a fraud case.
On Wednesday, Bobi appeared before the court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam and sought bail.
Dhaka Bar Association President Advocate Anwar Zahid Bhuiyan represented the actor during the hearing. After hearing both sides, the court granted her bail on a bond of Tk1,000.
SI Moktar of the prosecution division confirmed the development.
Earlier, on 12 July, Mehdi Alam Prince, Senior Manager of eTui Solutions Limited, filed a case with Gulshan Police Station against Bobi and three others.
The other accused are BTL Managing Director Mirza Abul Bashar, Deputy General Manager Abdul Ahad Mia and Admin Officer Sohel Rana.
According to the case statement, on 12 November last year at around 6:00pm, Abul Bashar contacted eTui Solutions Limited and requested the supply of lithium iron batteries for his company. Following the request, on 20 November, Mehdi Alam Prince delivered five 64-volt, 170-ampere batteries to BTL’s office in Gulshan. The total value of the batteries was Tk672,954.
The complaint alleges that although the accused were supposed to pay for the batteries, they repeatedly delayed the payment. On 11 January at around 11:00am, Mehdi Alam Prince went to their office to collect the outstanding amount. The accused allegedly refused to make any payment and threatened him before forcing him to leave the office.
The case further alleges that the accused had pre-planned the fraud and dishonestly misappropriated Tk672,954, the value of the batteries.
