Law Adviser Asif Nazrul on Wednesday stated that the E-Bail Bond management system constitutes a landmark advancement in the judiciary’s digital evolution, substantially enhancing transparency, accountability, and procedural efficiency.
He made these remarks while launching the system virtually in eight additional districts from his secretariat office. He said, “The E-Bail Bond system is a landmark step in the digital transformation of the judiciary.
“In Narayanganj, the system has received overwhelmingly positive responses, with 100 percent of bail bonds now being submitted online.” He further noted that the platform is being regularly refined based on user input to improve its usability and effectiveness.
The digital system was extended to the districts of Manikganj, Bandarban, Meherpur, Joypurhat, Moulvibazar, Panchagarh, Jhalokathi, and Sherpur. This expansion aims to address persistent procedural delays, remove bureaucratic obstacles, and fortify transparency within the bail process.
Asif Nazrul highlighted the challenges of the previous manual system, explaining that accused individuals often faced multiple cumbersome procedures even after being granted bail, leading to prolonged delays, extra financial strain, and significant mental anguish for them and their families.
“In many cases, individuals remained in jail for several days or even weeks despite having bail. There was little transparency or accountability, and it was difficult to identify where delays occurred,” he said.
He detailed the efficiency of the new framework, stating that once a judge digitally approves a bail order, the bond is automatically and immediately sent to the relevant jail authorities.
“As a result, detainees are now being released within a few hours or, at most, within one day. The system records who signs what and when, ensuring full transparency and strong accountability,” the adviser stated.
The initiative, he added, has curtailed unnecessary time wastage, reduced financial burdens and mental distress for litigants, decreased travel costs for the accused and their relatives, and contributed to government savings on prison management expenditures.
The E-Bail Bond system was initially piloted in Narayanganj on 15 October, 2025, and has been functioning successfully since its inception.
