A total of 21 candidates have withdrawn their nominations from the upcoming Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections.
Chief Election Commissioner Professor Dr Mohammad Jasim Uddin announced the development on Monday.
He said no major violations of the electoral code of conduct have been reported so far. The chief returning officer and his team are working diligently to ensure that no such incidents occur in the future either, he stated.
He added that any complaints regarding discrimination or irregularities must be submitted in writing, and the commission will take action as per the rules.
From Monday, candidates are permitted to begin official campaigning in accordance with the election guidelines. To avoid complications on voting day, students will be allowed to cast their votes by presenting any one of the following hall card, university ID card, library card, or pay-in slip.
Dr Jasim Uddin also announced that a meeting will be held on Tuesday at 11am in the Senate Hall with all VP, GS, and AGS candidates to discuss the code of conduct.
