As part of a series of consultations with political leaders ahead of the upcoming national parliamentary election, and with a view to ensuring stability on university campuses and maintaining an overall conducive academic environment, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan, held a meeting with the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, Shafiqur Rahman, on Tuesday.
It may be noted that the Vice-Chancellor met the Acting Chairman of the BNP, Tarique Rahman on Monday, according to a press release.
During the meeting, Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan briefed the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami on various issues, including overall campus security and stability ahead of the national election, the progress of the University of Dhaka’s major development projects and other ongoing initiatives, the post-DUCSU election situation, education and research activities, the University’s advancement in international rankings, and several recent measures undertaken for the welfare of students.
At the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor emphasised that ensuring stability at the University of Dhaka is of utmost importance in the context of the national election.
He sought the advice and cooperation of the Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer in maintaining overall campus stability, advancing education and research, and supporting infrastructural and other development initiatives.
In response, the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami assured his full possible cooperation in this regard.
