Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) will organise a three-day theatre festival to mark the nation’s Victory Day.
The event, titled ‘Bijoy Theke Bijoy Natyo Utsav 2025’, will be held on 11, 12 and 13 December at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
DUCSU Secretary for Literature and Culture, Mosaddeq Ali Ibn Muhammad, told Times of Bangladesh that several plays based on the Liberation War of 1971 will be staged at event.
The festival will also draw inspiration from the July 2024 mass uprising, linking the two historic struggles through theatre.
The performances aim to reflect the sacrifices of the Liberation War and the spirit of recent popular movements.
“During the July uprising, everyone felt the inspiration of the Liberation War. People were motivated by its songs and ideals,” Mosaddeq said.
The festival will include performances by various Dhaka University drama groups, along with several renowned theatre troupes from outside the university.
