Dhaka University will restrict the entry of outsiders and general vehicles to its campus from Sunday evening to early Monday as part of heightened security measures for the 2026 FIFA World Cup final.
The restrictions will remain in force from 6:30pm on 19 July to 6:00am on 20 July, the university’s Public Relations Office said in a statement on Saturday.
During the period, only university teachers, students, officials and employees will be allowed to enter the campus.
Vehicles with university stickers and those providing emergency services will be permitted through the Shahbagh, Doel Chattar, Shibbari Crossing, Fuller Road and Nilkhet entrances.
Ambulances, vehicles carrying doctors and patients, journalists, ride-sharing vehicles, food delivery services, online shopping services and government vehicles will also be allowed entry.
The road from Palashi to the High Court intersection via Doel Chattar will remain open to all traffic.
Restrictions on public transport and heavy vehicles will continue as usual.
The university authorities said the measures had been taken to ensure the safety of the campus and its students.
