Bangladesh Armed Forces and the United States Army will formally launch their annual joint exercise, Tiger Lightning 2026, on Sunday.
The US Embassy in Dhaka confirmed the development on Saturday.
More than 160 military personnel from the two countries will take part in the bilateral exercise, which aims to strengthen cooperation and improve operational capabilities in real-world scenarios, the embassy said.
The training will focus on jungle operations, counter-terrorism activities and tactical combat casualty care, allowing personnel from both sides to gain a deeper understanding of each other’s skills and procedures.
Tiger Lightning is part of the US Army Pacific’s Theatre Army Campaign Plan and wider security cooperation programme.
The exercise aims to strengthen professional military ties, improve operational skills and readiness, and enhance coordination and interoperability between the Bangladesh and US armies.
Launched in 2017, Tiger Lightning is a bilateral joint military exercise between the two countries. It was temporarily suspended during the Covid-19 pandemic but has been held regularly for the past five years.
The programme will include both classroom instruction and field training, ending with a full-scale field training exercise.
