Fatherhood brings a new challenge for Red in the latest trailer for ‘The Angry Birds Movie 3’, as the familiar animated hero finds himself balancing family responsibilities with another mission to save his island, states The Hollywood Reporter.
Jason Sudeikis returns to voice Red in the third instalment of the animated franchise, which Paramount Pictures is preparing to release in cinemas on 23 December 2026.
The new trailer opens with Red and his partner Silver, voiced by Rachel Bloom, trying to enjoy family life with their three children.
But their peaceful routine soon faces disruption when a fresh threat puts the island in danger.
Red initially hopes to focus on becoming a good father after saving the island twice. However, the emergence of a new villain forces him to take up the hero’s role once again.
This time, he must protect the island with his family alongside him.
The preview also features Chuck, voiced by Josh Gad, and Bomb, voiced by Danny McBride, as they attempt to adjust to a quieter life. Their plans take an unexpected turn as the threat to the island becomes clear.
Directed by John Rice, the film features a screenplay by Thurop Van Orman. The returning voice cast includes Sudeikis, Gad, Bloom and McBride, alongside Emma Myers, Walker Scobell, Tim Robinson, Anna Cathcart, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Nikki Glaser, Sam Richardson, James Austin Johnson, Lily James and Keke Palmer.
New additions to the franchise also include Psalm West, MrBeast and Salish Matter.
The film will feature new music from BLACKPINK’s Jisoo, who co-wrote the original song ‘Sun Showers’ heard in the trailer.
Based on Rovio’s popular mobile game, the franchise began with ‘The Angry Birds Movie’ in 2016, followed by its 2019 sequel. The first two films have earned more than $500 million worldwide.
John Cohen, Dan Chuba, Carla Connor and Namit Malhotra are producing the third film, with Paramount Pictures handling its worldwide theatrical distribution.
