An advocacy meeting was held at the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Sunday to ensure the success of the National Emergency Measles-Rubella (MR) Vaccination Campaign 2026 through the active participation of religious leaders.
Taking place at Nagar Bhaban in Gulshan-2, DNCC, the meeting was presided over by Brigadier General Imrul Kayes Chowdhury, chief health officer of the Dhaka North City Corporation.
Under the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) of Bangladesh government, the MR vaccination programme has been ongoing in the DNCC area since 12 April, 2026.
Children aged between six months and under five years are being administered the Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccine during this campaign.
The advocacy meeting was organised to accelerate the momentum of the campaign by involving respected Imams, Priests, and Pastors from the DNCC area. Representatives from the Islamic Foundation, Bangladesh, and the Imam Training Centre were also present at the event.
During the session, the DNCC Health Department presented various details, including the campaign schedule, the critical importance of the vaccination, and the addresses of the vaccination centres.
The invited guests expressed their commitment to disseminating positive messages regarding the campaign, countering rumours and misconceptions, and working to create public awareness.
The meeting concluded with the hope that, with the cooperation of religious leaders, the publicity and reach of the Emergency MR Vaccination Campaign 2026 within the DNCC area would increase, ensuring that all eligible children are brought under the vaccination coverage.
