Two university students were killed after a garbage truck from the Dhaka North City Corporation collided with their motorcycle in the Konapara area of Demra on Thursday.

The victims, identified as Eram Redwan (25) and Apu Ahmed (25), were rushed to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where they were declared dead early Friday morning.

Eram was a third-year honors student at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), and Apu was a third-year honors student at United International University (UIU). They both resided in the Chittagong Road area of Demra.

Their friend, Towseef, told the media that the two were returning home by motorcycle after attending a wedding celebration. When they reached the Konapara area, a garbage truck from Dhaka North City Corporation collided with their motorcycle. The students were severely injured and taken to DMCH, where Apu was declared dead first, followed by Eram.

Demra Police Inspector Rubel confirmed that both bodies are at the DMCH morgue. The truck involved in the accident has been seized by the police; however, the driver fled the scene and remains at large.
