Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Md Shafiqul Islam Khan said all necessary measures are being taken to ensure that devotees, including both men and women, can offer their Eid prayers comfortably at the corporation’s central congregation.
He made these remarks while inspecting the preparation sites on Wednesday afternoon.
The DNCC is organising the Eid Jamat at the Agargaon Old Trade Fair Ground this year, with prayers scheduled to be held at 8am on Eid day.
Highlighting the weather preparations, the administrator noted that despite the forecast of rain, arrangements have been made to prevent any inconvenience. “We have constructed shades using steel structures so that the congregation can proceed smoothly even if it rains,” he said.
Special arrangements, including separate prayer spaces and dedicated entrance points, have been ensured for women.
Regarding security and capacity, Shafiqul said while the current arrangement caters to 10,000 people, contingency plans are in place to accommodate more devotees if needed. “Comprehensive security measures have been implemented. There will be archways at the entrances, and a large number of law enforcement personnel will be deployed to ensure safety,” he added.
The administrator invited city residents to attend the central congregation.
DNCC Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Asaduzzaman, Chief Waste Management Officer Commodore Mohammad Humayun Kabir, Chief Engineer Brigadier General Syed Rakibul Hassan, and senior officials from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police were present during the inspection.
