The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) traffic division filed 1,811 cases against traffic violators across the capital on Sunday.
A press release from DMP stated that the operation targeted vehicles violating traffic rules in different areas of Dhaka. The action led to the impounding of 419 vehicles and the towing of 122 others.
According to the release, Traffic-Ramna division filed 109 cases, including three buses, five covered vans, 16 CNGs, and 47 motorcycles.
Traffic-Lalbagh division registered 116 cases, covering eight buses, one covered van, eight CNGs, and 82 motorcycles.
Traffic-Motijheel division took 242 cases, including seven buses, three trucks, 12 covered vans, 51 CNGs, and 134 motorcycles.
Traffic-Wari division filed 93 cases involving five buses, nine trucks, 12 covered vans, 10 CNGs, and 35 motorcycles.
Traffic-Tejgaon division registered 178 cases with three buses, nine covered vans, 31 CNGs, and 97 motorcycles.
Traffic-Mirpur recorded the highest with 734 cases, including one bus, nine trucks, 32 covered vans, 73 CNGs, and 541 motorcycles.
Traffic-Uttara division filed 184 cases involving 10 buses, four covered vans, 23 CNGs, and 67 motorcycles.
Traffic-Gulshan division took 155 cases with two buses, five covered vans, 15 CNGs, and 80 motorcycles.
The crackdown, carried out in multiple districts of Dhaka on Sunday, was aimed at enforcing traffic laws and reducing congestion and violations on city roads.
