The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) filed 1,469 cases against traffic rule violators during enforcement operations conducted across various areas of the capital on Thursday and Friday.
This information was disclosed in a press release signed on Saturday by Muhammad Talebur Rahman, deputy commissioner of the DMP’s Media and Public Relations Division.
According to DMP Traffic sources, the breakdown of cases across different divisions includes 142 cases in the Traffic-Ramna Division, involving two buses, one truck, three covered vans, 19 CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 51 motorcycles.
The Traffic-Lalbagh Division recorded 145 cases, including one bus, three trucks, three covered vans, 24 CNGs, and 93 motorcycles.
In the Traffic-Motijheel Division, 278 cases were filed against five buses, seven trucks, 10 covered vans, 73 CNGs, and 151 motorcycles, while the Traffic-Wari Division registered 116 cases involving four buses, four trucks, 10 covered vans, six CNGs, and 83 motorcycles.
Operations in the Traffic-Tejgaon Division led to 169 cases involving two buses, one truck, four covered vans, 20 CNGs, and 91 motorcycles. The Traffic-Mirpur Division recorded 285 cases, including one bus, 11 trucks, nine covered vans, 22 CNGs, and 189 motorcycles.
In the Traffic-Uttara Division, 211 cases were filed against 15 buses, 11 trucks, three covered vans, 34 CNGs, and 54 motorcycles. Furthermore, the Traffic-Gulshan Division registered a total of 146 cases involving four buses, one truck, six covered vans, 12 CNGs, and 284 motorcycles.
During the operations, a total of 557 vehicles were sent to dumping and 214 vehicles were wrecked. Police sources stated that the DMP Traffic Division will continue its operations to maintain traffic discipline in the Dhaka metropolitan area.
