The Traffic Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) filed 1,399 cases against traffic rule violators during drives carried out in different areas of the capital on Sunday.
DMP said the highest number of cases, 285, was filed in the Motijheel Traffic Division. Uttara recorded 233 cases. Tejgaon and Mirpur recorded 225 cases each. Lalbagh saw 174 cases, Ramna 93, Gulshan 84, and Wari 80 cases.
During the drives, police impounded 255 vehicles. They also fined or took legal action against 168 more vehicles.
Deputy Police Commissioner of DMP’s Media and Public Relations Division NM Nasiruddin shared the information in a statement on Monday.
DMP Traffic Division said the drives will continue across Dhaka to maintain traffic discipline in the metropolitan area.
