Sheikh Md Sazzat Ali has resigned from his position as the Commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), citing family reasons
He signed his resignation letter at 12:30 pm on Wednesday and sent it to Police Headquarters.
Sazzat Ali was appointed as the DMP commissioner by the interim government on 21 November 2024. His appointment was part of a broader initiative to restructure the police force following the student-led mass uprising.
Although he had already completed his regular service tenure, he was appointed to the post on a two-year contractual basis. An officer of the 1984 batch of the BCS Police Cadre, Ali previously served as an Additional Inspector General of Police (IGP).
